What is heaven like?

UNIMAGINABLY WONDERFUL

That is what is meant by the Scriptures which say that no mere man has ever seen, heard or even imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who love the Lord.
1 Corinthians 2:9     (taken from The Living Bible, Tyndale House Publishers, 1971)

PARADISE

And I know that this man - whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows - was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell..
    2 Corinthians 12:3-4

ETERNAL PLEASURE

You have made known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
    Psalm 16:11

LIVE FOREVER

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
    John 10:28

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”
    Revelation 21:4-5

LIKE THE ANGELS

...and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection.
    Luke 20:36
Note: References to our lost little ones as "angels" is a term of endearment and a reference to this passage. While human souls in heaven are like the angels we are nonetheless human. The Bible  teaches that angels are unisex, without the ability to procreate, created to serve God and humanity. We are so much more than that - we are created in the image of God.

A HEAVENLY BODY

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.  Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling,  because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.  For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
    2 Corinthians 5:1-4

GOD'S OWN HOUSE

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
    John 14: 1-3

A REST

There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his.
    Hebrews 4:9-10
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on... they will rest from their labor...
    Revelation 14:13

A HEAVENLY COUNTRY - A HOME

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.  People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.  If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.  Instead, they were longing for a better country - a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
    Hebrews 11:13-16
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
    Matthew 25:34

MOMMY AND DADDY
(Author Unknown)

Please don't be sad,
I miss you so much, too.
It’s beautiful here where I am,
but I worry a lot about you.
I sleep with angels watching me,
there’s only love up here.
I’m never lonely or afraid
‘cause God is always near.
I walk with angels every day,
they’re very kind and sweet.
Don’t worry, Mom and Dad,
they hold my hand when
we cross a golden street.
I never cry or hurt myself,
I see rainbows every day.
I play and laugh and sing a lot,
and I hear you both when you pray.
Please, Mommy and Daddy,
don’t be mad at God,
you see, He loves me, too.
And even though you’re not with me,
I’m really still with you.
